Certificates

Certificates

Everyone who enters the UK Songwriting Contest receives a personalised UKSC Certificate for each song. These look great framed on your home or studio wall and they can be used in CVs or on websites etc. The press often use photos of winners, finalists and semi finalist holding their certificates and they have also been seen on major TV networks during features on successful UKSC entrants. Each Certificate has the song title, the writer's name (or names), the year, the song category and the position reached in the contest that year. There are Winner, Finalist, Semi Finalist, Special Mention, Commended Entry, Higher Commended Entry, Participant and Songwriter Certificates and you will be awarded a personalised Certificate that matches the position your song reaches in the contest.

To see your certificates go to your personal song dashboard and follow the links. Or go to that year´s results page on this website and enter either your name or the song title in the results search box. You results will appear with the position the song reached in the contest and also the score and rating awarded to that song by the judging panels. There will be a link to the Certificate for each song. Click on that link to see the Certificate.

PRINTING CERTIFICATES

Every browser/computer and printer combination is different and you may need to make adjustments to get the certificate to print the way you want. We recommend that you select print in your browser menu and then choose Save as PDF or Print as PDF. (Altermatively you could save the page as a Complete Web Page and then open this later for printing or saving as a PDF).  Read the following tips for advice and ideas.

1. Click the "Certificate" link next to your song listing in the results to see, save and print your certificate. It has been designed to print correctly on A4 size paper.

2. In the Print menu for page size select A4 - this is important to ensure correct positioning. You don't want the web page details to appear on the top and bottom of the page so, if you can see these, be sure to select "Remove Header and Footers".

3. In "Print Preview" and "Page Set Up" use the Margin controls if necessary to adjust the margins and centre the certificate. In some cases you may need to change margin settings from "Default" to "None". This might not be necessary if you select A4 as the size. If your song title or writers details are long and take up a lot of space this may effect the layout and you may need to adjust these settings to get the certificate to appear exactly as you wish. It should automatically print and display correctly on A4 paper for most people, but on some devices or with very long title/writers it may sometimes need adjusting.

PORTRAIT TIPS
The certificates are designed to print as an A4 portrait page and we recommend this. If you select Portrait in the print settings your certificate will appear on one page. If the certificate does not fill the entire page correctly you can adjust the Scale setting in your print settings to make it fit as desired.

LANDSCAPE TIPS
If you select landscape it might not appear correctly but you should be able to adjust this to fit if you change the Scale setting in your print settings. Changing to around 88 scale seems to work in many cases but you may need to try different settings depending on your browser and device settings and how much text there is on the certificate.

LAYOUT PROBLEM?
In some cases where there are unusual computer settings or where the name(s), song title etc are longer than average, this may effect the layout and you may need to use the "Resize" or "Scale" facility in Print Preview. Try resizing or rescaling to 90% or 95% or experiment with different sizes. Often resizing/ resacling will solve all problems.

4. Print on the paper of your choice. You may wish to use extra heavy certificate or parchment effect paper for a more attractive result. Frame if you wish.

PAPER
Try using different types of paper for different effects. There are many special certificate papers available in shops and some have attractive borders pre-printed onto the paper. We made have our border very simple on purpose so that this will not clash with any of these designs. We have made the certificates so that it is possible for you to remove or change the border and even change colours and other details by saving and editing in Word.
