Under 18s Category
This new category was introduced in 2014. The UKSC has a history of outstanding younger entrants. For example Natalie Chua, now one of the UKSC juudges, was only 11 years old when she won the UKSC and was signed by Simon Cowell back in 2004. She went on to receive a Platinum Album for her work Cowell's band Angelis. And in 2013 Jaron Natoli from Melbourne was only 13 when he won both the Rock and the Pop categories with his songs. When the results were announced he was immediately picked up by the Australian media and featured to millions on the hugely popular Today Tonight TV show. Last year's winner, 15 year old Kate Cosentino, caused a stir among many in the music business and the number one hit songwriter Mark Cawley was quoted as saying he envied her writing skills and wished he had been able to write like that when he was 15.
