POSTAL ENTRIES
CLICK HERE FOR A POSTAL ENTRY FORM. We know some people prefer this so we are happy to accept your postal entries as before. The deadline for postal entries is Monday 15 March - it doesn't matter if your songs arrive after that date but they must be posted on or before the 15th. But before you decide to post your songs please consider that it could be much easier to enter online than you think. Read below for some ideas and tips.
If you want to try and are new to song files and uploads please
contact us and we will help you and advise you every step of the way. Just fill in the simple online entry form and attach the song just as you would do with an email attachment. Lyrics Only entries are even simpler as you cut and paste the Lyric directly into the form and enter in a few clicks. And you will get an immediate confirmation email from us telling you that the song is in the contest instead of having to wait for days.
It is cheaper for you to enter online as there are no postage and packaging costs, and it is safer than posting entries as there is no chance of the song getting lost in the postal system. It also allows us to track your songs through the judging panels more efficiently and we can send instant confirmation emails for your songs. Plus, we have found it very difficult to recycle CDs and CD cases so it is more eco-friendly to enter online. To make it even easier we have three different ways to enter online - see above for details.
Here is a testimonial we received from Bob Reid, a regular UKSC contestant. If you have doubts about entering online this might make you re consider. Bob says: "I have been a cd, envelope and stamp person for all previous entries. Ok - well you might call me old fashioned - I use PC for work and e-mail and am reasonably competent - but mp3s and uploads etc. Not so sure about that !!
Well if I have learnt one thing over the past years entering this contest it is that the admin support behind the scenes is brilliant. So an e-mail to UKSC asking for help. Instant reply and that was on a Sunday !! "Please try to submit on line - here is some helpful advice." Fortunately I had three songs already as work in progress for a new album and a few more in early stages. I know I can rely on the song contest judges listening to the song not the quality of the recording so I wasn't too worried that the songs were not fully worked through. Bravely I started on the process of uploading the songs on line. Failed completely - then noticed the 8MB size limitation. More e-mail exchanges and advice on how to reduce the mp3 size. Still problems - well that was my browser - try internet explorer. A few more helpful e-mails and lo and behold the first song submitted on line. Actually very easy - no envelope, no stamp, no cheque, no need to worry if the postman will get it delivered on time - saving me time and money. As of today - a number of songs submitted - no problem - I look forward to finding out how they do in the contest.
So if you are a stamp, envelope and cd person - try moving into the 21st century - all in all, in the end, it was much easier.
Thanks to all at UKSC for all the help.
Good luck to all of you entering the contest".
